The Old Presbytery Guesthouse

Your home away from home

In the heart of the Bordeaux countryside

Bonjour & Welcome

A restored 18th-century presbytery

We're Wayne & David, and along with our dogs Sherlock and Mrs Hudson, we invite you to our guesthouse — your home away from home for grown-ups who want to truly switch off, at their own pace — dogs very much included.

Our home is a restored 18th-century presbytery, set in the heart of the Bordeaux countryside.

Just 30 minutes from Bergerac and 1 hour from Bordeaux, we're surrounded by vineyards, medieval villages, and the slow rhythm of rural life.

This is our home, and we're delighted to share it with you.

Tranquil & Sustainable

Where you slow down

More than somewhere to stay — it's where you slow down. Here you'll find space to breathe, room to roam, and time to truly unwind.

Explore medieval villages, sip wine in Saint-Émilion, or nap beneath our 300-year-old cedar trees — the kind of peace and privacy that only a grown-up place can offer.

We care deeply about sustainable travel. From solar power to composting, filtered water and reusable bottles, we keep things simple and low-impact.

Here, sustainability isn't a slogan — it's how we live.

Paws & Wagging Tails

Dog inclusive, not dog tolerant

A lot of places are dog friendly. What they usually mean is dog tolerant.

We mean something else entirely. Except for the pool, your dog goes where you go — the gardens, the terrace, and yes, your bedroom.

Sherlock & Mrs Hudson, our resident Airedales, both have their own way of welcoming you. Sherlock, our gentle giant, will quietly become your best friend — no doubt sitting on your lap. Whereas Mrs Hudson will want to play immediately!

Great walks start from your bedroom door, and dogs always stay free.

We're dog inclusive — there's a difference.

Peaceful Nights

Restoration begins with a comfortable night's sleep

We have five guest rooms and one apartment, each offering you a truly restful night's sleep — with super king-size beds (or twins, if you prefer), ensuite bathrooms, and doors that open onto private terraces.

The apartment offers a little more room to stretch out, with two terraces — one for sunrise, one for sunset — overlooking the orchard and our pool.

You'll sleep in organic cotton bed linen, with soft organic towels and eco-friendly toiletries waiting in the bathroom.

Guest Reviews

Like visiting old friends

Guests often say staying here feels like visiting old friends. They love the peaceful setting, the attention to detail, and the warm welcome. Many return year after year, and we're grateful for the friendships that grow.

This is without doubt the best Chambre d'hotes we have ever stayed in. David and Wayne could not do enough for us and we feel privileged to have stayed in their amazing home.
Absolutely faultless. Wayne and David have created a haven of peace and beauty.
The best guest house we've ever stayed in. From the heated pool to the eco-conscious touches, it's perfection.
Our dog was treated like royalty. Sherlock and Mrs Hudson were the perfect hosts!
A rare find. Elegant, sustainable, and deeply welcoming. We'll be back.
